Yet another test post
Submitted by Luap on Fri, 06/03/2011 - 12:04am.At this point, I have really lost track of what I've done so far and where this is all going... oh well. I will go ahead and run this test anyway.
Enjoy!
Another Blog Client Test -- BloGTK
Submitted by Luap on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 1:34am.Just a quick test to see what another program is like. This time, I'm trying out BloGTK 2.0 to see how it holds out. Pretty straight-forward so far! Let's see if it successfully posts to my site, eh? Ready? Go...
It's Been Over A Year... Time To Post!
Submitted by Luap on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 12:05am.I had previously done fairly well with my One Post Per Year policy, but alas, I fell off the train and completely missed aught-nine!! Ugh. I had done a complete revamp of our NearlyEverything.com site hub/network back in November-ish, and had plans to roll in Pointless Rant to the NEcom fold. If I'd have completed that project, I'd have gotten a post fired off right at the end there. Oh well... so much for last year. Ten is going to be so much better anyway. :P
This is being posted from a bit of software running on my Ubuntu desktop (using Blogilo, formerly "Bilbo Blogger") as a test. I'm trying out a desktop client in hopes that it will ease my pains for posting content on my slew of blogs & portals, which could be the answer to my OPPY (see above) problem... hopefully.
So, first of all, let's see if this even works! I still need to re-do Pointless Rant soon, but this will be a good test. Post being sent roughly.... now.
Gloobert shares some music links
Submitted by Luap on Thu, 12/11/2008 - 7:13pm.What do I post after going silent for well over a year??!? Well, it goes something like this:
My good friend Gloobert sent me an email and it deserves to be seen by others. I'll get his permission later:
I finally thought about looking up some of my recent faves to see what they were all about...live.
Bob Log III. Lyrics shmyrics, just love the sound.
Ratatat. I don’t have this track on the stuff I bought from Emusic. Must get.
And finally a little country fried goodness:
Blitzen Trapper
Thanks! Great, fun stuff.
07-07-07, 07:07... Had to post
Submitted by Luap on Sat, 07/07/2007 - 7:07am.I just had to post on this day. The big "777" of the century! I have nothing else to say besides "yay!"
"The Fuss About Gmail and Privacy"
Submitted by Luap on Fri, 04/01/2005 - 5:25pm.I've been struggling with email... a LOT. I was using Eudora for what seemed like forever, but since they went to a "lease" type payment scheme, I lost interest. It's still basically my favorite email client for dealing with a bunch of addresses, filters and storage folders and such... until I started re-thinking how I use email.
I'm currently on a kick of "read anywhere" with regards to email access. I have a multi-boot system now (Windows 1883, Windows XP, Linux-of-the-Week, Windows XP 64-bit, etc.) and I that's a major trauma when you want to get access to your email from any OS at any time. There are ways, but the setup of it is stupid, not to mention each OS has different clients to deal with.
Lately, I've been using more of Mozilla Thunderbird, and it's pretty sweet, but totally different in how to think of email vs. Eudora. (If you use Outlook, you'll fall right into Thunderbird and I'd HIGHLY recommend the switch unless you're tied down to a company Outlook mandate or need the cool Outlook scheduling-type goodies.)
Continuing on the topic of T-bird, I've been trying to solve my "email from anywhere" thing by using IMAP with T-bird, which basically keeps all the email on the server... you just snag copies of it for local consumption with your IMAP client.
Aaanyway... all that is to say that I'm still not satisfied! My server accounts are filling up and I don't want to worry about all that email piling up on my limited resource servers. I can use the fantastic Horde email (no link now, just Google it) client on the server, but I still have the mail stored there.
Where am I heading? Well, Gmail, I think... I have had a Gmail account for a while now and I really like it. It's another major shift in how you use email, but it's pretty cool once you get used to it. Oh, and the spam filtering is sublime!
So, the topic of this post points out the title of an article about Gmail and privacy, which I wanted to record for later reference:
April 1... laughy-laugh
Submitted by Luap on Fri, 04/01/2005 - 4:39pm.I'm too busy (read: worried) about other stuff today to try working out some elaborate April Fool's Day joke for the site. Also, all of 18 people will even see it, so it's not worth my time right now.
One cool thing about today is that my very good friend Haruki has a birthday on this date! Woohoo! Happy birthday, Haruki.
I'll head back to my other stuff to see where this day ends up.
